BACKGROUND
PROJECT OBJECTIVES
CURRENT STATUS

In February 2002, DAI mobilized Wayne Curry, a Water Resources Engineer, to assist USAID coordinate the collection of information and conduct site assessments and analysis for WRP Phase II, WRP Phase III, Village Water and Sanitation program (VWS), the Abu Dis-Bethlehem Wastewater Treatment, and Gaza Desalination facilities.

DAI's expert completed this contract last October and made significant progress on each of these tasks despite the current situation in the region. Several damage assessment trips to Ramallah, Bethlehem, as well as verification/assessment of damage to roads and public buildings in the Beit Hanoun and Beit Lahia areas, were made. The expert has prepared presentations for USAID and the World Bank on the damage to aid them in site determination for their programs.

DAI's expert maintained close coordination between USAID, World Bank, UNSCO, MOPIC, PWA, and local government officials regarding his findings and movements in the region. In late June, the expert met with the World Bank to discuss the sharing of responsibilities in completing the damage assessments and compiling the report for the Northern Area.
