Water quality—River basin/watershed protection studies, nonpoint source pollution studies, monitoring networks, field sampling/laboratory analysis, water quality modeling, lake and estuarine/coastal management plans.
Water supply—Water resources/hydrological modeling including 3-D aquifer modeling, demand forecasting, water abstraction, development of groundwater supplies, desalination of seawater and brackish groundwater.
Water/wastewater treatment—Innovative uses of proven technology to provide cost-effective treatment of water and wastewater; applying new technologies as well as economical and locally appropriate design.
Water reclamation and re-use—Including applications for reclamation of wastewater for agricultural irrigation, industrial uses, management of saltwater intrusion, and recharge of groundwater and wetlands.
Water transmission/distribution—Computer-based network analyses, leak detection and control, analysis of unaccounted-for water, infrastructure maintenance management systems, and water conservation.
Database management and monitoring network analysis—Design and implementation of database management systems, computer-based geographic information systems (GIS) and infrastructure mapping and maintenance management.
Institutional strengthening—Capacity-building in management of water resources and related utilities, policy development, conflict resolution, economic/financial studies and tariff development, and privatization.
